Project 1

Module 1

Experimentation with circuits as well as final project as part of Media, Motions, and the Body class Year 2 IxD

Activity 1

Image shows me measuring and cutting the copper tape to build the circuit Image shows first succesfull attempt to make a simple circuit with only 1 light, activated by pressing the positive side (coppeer tape) to the battery. Image shows the series circuit attempt with 2 lights without the positive side of the current (copper tape) not physically pressed on the battery Image shows the series circuit attempt with 2 lights without the positive side of the current (copper tape) pressed on the battery, however the circuit is not lighting up Image shows the series circuit attempt revised with 2 batteries instead of 1 (stacked) and pressed to the positive side of the current (copper tape) and finally working. Image shows attempt to create the battery holder with felt and sewing with the conductive thread, through this experimentation it was discovered that the thread was less maleable than natural fibre thread and more difficult to work with. Image shows progress on the battery holder, stiches are uneven as the needle had difficulty piercing through the conductive fabric Image of completed battery holder, didn't fully work on circuits unless both sides were pressed togethert to make sure the conductive fabric touched more of the surface area of the battery Image of progress building a parallel circuit Image of completed parallel circuit with only 1 battery pressed down by the positive side of the circuit (copper tape) Image of completed parallel circuit with 2 batteries pressed down by the positive side of the circuit (copper tape) Image of experimentation, modified simple circuit to create a torch light shape Image of experimentation, modified simple circuit to create a 3 leaf clover shape. Unfortunately this didn't manage to light up as there was no gap for the light created when making the circuit with copper tape Image of experimentation, modified series circuit with positive side of the copper tape not fully pressed on the battery. Image of experimentation, modified series circuit with positive side of the copper tape fully pressed on the battery. Image of experimentation, modified series circuit with another light addedd in a parallel circuit style with positive side of the copper tape not fully pressed on the battery. Re-learning how to crochet as experimentation for iterating on wearable circuit requirement for the final project Progress on crochet material. Attempting to crochet with the conductive thread to explore possible pathway for wearable circuit option. Consisting of stich called (chains) Progress of crocheting the conductive thread, consisting og single stiches Testing if the conductive thread works bu connecting it to a previously built circuit as a proof of concept. Constructed another neater battery holder by connecting the ends with fabric glue, tested by creating a simple circuit with alligator clips an light bulb Working simple circuit hidden underneatht the crochet fabric material front view Working simple circuit hidden underneatht the crochet fabric material inside view with circuit visible Circuit inside the fabric taken out and shown, utilizing the conductive thread which was turned into an easier material to work with by crocheting the thread.
